1: yoshi got invited to be a part of "steins, pints, and plates" show at carbondale clay center celebrating oktoberfest! very funny and playful steins are presented for the show.

29: yoshi received mary e. nyburg fund for artistic development from baltimore clayworks, and he used the grant for 10-week residency at tainan national university for the arts in taiwan. he stops by japan (after 9 years!) for a very short while for visa renewal and visiting family and friends. please remember his safety and successful residency experience. he comes back to the states on november 14.

6: yoshi and current and past resident artists from baltimore clayworks will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the organization by showcasing their works in the conjunction to nceca 2010 in philadelphia, pennsylvania.

3: yoshi is included in "adorned: holiday tables dressed with functional ceramics" an invitational show at the meredith gallery in baltimore, md from december 3 through february 27, 2010. this is a collaborative exhibition of local furniture makers and national ceramic works. the show opens with a reception on thursday december 3, 5-7:30pm.

NEW! 15: yoshi took the gallery associate position at baltimore clayworks. he will be the "face" of clayworks, and is in charge of member's gallery display and sales.
11-12: yoshi is leading a weekend workshop at baltimore clayworks on july 11 and 12. the course titled "seductive elegance" (as you see the same title on his mfa thesis show last year) focuses on forms and surface decoration on clay by altering and carving, and explore the elegant quality of porcelain. registration is available from baltimore clayworks website or call 410-578-1919.

27: lormina salter fellowship exhibition, "message: to whom I want," is scheduled on june 27 through august 1 at baltimore clayworks, with an opening reception on saturday, june 27, 6-8pm. yoshi is a recipient of the fellowship this year, and he presents one year of development as a resident artist at baltimore clayworks through this exhibition. please support yoshi's achievement.
5: baltimore clayworks is hosting their "annual second sale" in june 5-7. the sale opens with a ticketed event with drinks and music on friday at 6-9pm and continue on sunday with a big discount! yoshi's in-class demo pieces are available during this sale.

1: yoshi was selected as a recipient of the lormina salter fellowship at the baltimore clayworks and invited to become a resident artist. he is moving to baltimore at the end of the summer after completing his study in illinois as well as a short visit to mississippi.

21: yoshi's work has been selected for "third international small teapot competition" at saddleback college in mission viejo, california. the exhibition date is february 25 through march 27 with artist's reception on february 21.
17: yoshi's work is a finalist in "2008 niche student awards competition" in conjunction with niche magazine and the buyers market of american craft in philadelphia, pennsylvania on february 15-18. the work was selected out of more than 1000 entries, and it is truly an honor to be selected as a finalist. the award celemony is held february 17.
15: "love at the glove," a theme-oriented annual special exhibition and reception is february 15, 7-10pm, at surplus gallery at siuc. like last year, yoshi's experimental work is displayed.
12: yoshi's work is displayed at the global gallery, newly added space at the student center at siuc, for the rest of the semester. the dedication celemony is on february 12 tuesday at 6pm. in addition, one of yoshi's work is donated as a permanent collection for the future growth of the gallery.

30: school of art and design at siuc hosts their annual fundraising event, "art over easy 3" on november 30, 7-9pm. yoshi donated his work, and also the works of faculty, students, and alumni are available on this live and silent auction. the proceeds help the funding for our new building as well as scholarships for students.
28: southern clayworks (scw,) the ceramics student organization, is hosting their annual holiday sale at the siuc student center november 29-30, 10am-5pm, and december 1, 9am-4pm. the sale starts with the preview sale on wednesday, november 28, 5-8pm at the pulliam hall breezeway. part of the proceeds go toward the club and the ceramics department in order to purchase equipment and inviting visiting artists. please support young artists.
16: yoshi's work got accepted to "national juried/invitational ceramic cup show" at gulf coast community college in panama city, florida. the show is from november 16 with an opening reception 5-7pm through january 8.
9: "mfa preview exhibition" is the opportunity to glance at what the mfa candidates at siuc have been exploring in their study so far prior to their thesis exhibitions at the end of the school year. the date of the exhibition are november 7 - december 7 at the university museum, and the reception is scheduled for november 9, 4-7pm.
